Bleach Character - Orihime Inoue

Orihime Inoue is a student from Karakura High. She goes to the same class as Ichigo. She likes to daydream a lot which makes her a little hyper. Her crush is Ichigo and her best friend is Tatsuki. Orihime also had an older brother named Sora. (In the VIZ manga, Orihime's brother was named Kakei.)

When Orihime was still a baby her parents would give her beatings to make her stop crying. Kakei is 15 years older than her. When he turned 18 he took Orihime with him and moved to a different place. He then died in a car accident when Orihime was 12 years old. She got angry at him because he gave her some hairclips she didn't like. The day Kakei died is the day she swore to always wear the hairclips.

Because of the overflowing spirit energy coming from Ichigo (particularly during his contest with Uryu), Orihime eventually awakens to her own spiritual power: the Shun Shun Rikka ("Six Princess Shielding Flowers"). The hair clips she wears transform into six spiritual guardians that assist Orihime by creating shields that literally reject enemy forces and energies. They are activated when she summons their names, chants a kotodama (a spirit chant), and calls out, "I reject!", which activates the chant. Three of them (Hinagiku, Baigon, and Lily) create Santen Kesshu ("Sacred Tri-Linked Shield")--a defensive shield that protects from outside attacks. Two of them (Shun'o and Ayame) can form Soten Kishun ("Sacred Dual Return Shield")--a shielded zone that reverses unwanted effects inside it (in essence, it can be used to heal someone from attacks--this particular power will draw some trouble for her later). The last one, Tsubaki, creates Koten Sanshun ("Sacred Solitary Cutting Shield")--in which he enters an enemy then rejects from both sides at once, slicing the enemy in two. With her new powers, Orihime will accompany Ichigo into the Soul Society to save Rukia.

Orihime performs very well in high school, and was near to the top of the year in exams. She is also a member of handy-crafty club with Ishida. She also made a promise to Tatsuki to never cut her hair again.

All six names in the Shunshun Rikka are all flowers. This is what their names mean (except for Lily, which is already in English):

  • Hinagiku (火無菊) - Daisy (it literally means "fireless crysanthemum")

  • Baigon (梅巌) - Ume (it literally means "solemn ume")

  • Shun'ō (舜桜) - Althea

  • Ayame (あやめ) - Iris

  • Tsubaki (椿鬼) - Camellia

Bleach Character - Rukia Kuchiki

Rukia Kuchiki started out as a Shinigami (Death God), but in the first episode she gives her powers to Ichigo Kurosaki. She met Ichigo and when they were fighting a Hollow, and when she got hurt she told him to stab her sword into him... and he did, which changed him into a soul reaper! She then enters a faux body and convinces Ichigo to help her in her work as a Shinigami until her powers return. After a while, her older brother comes and takes her back to Soul Society. Giving away her powers was a serious crime punishable by execution. Ichigo and a few others then go to Soul Society to rescue her.Rukia has lived ten of Ichigo's lives (you do the math) and that she inhabits a Gigai (fake body given to disimpower soul reapers. Also she likes anything to do with rabbits and draws very poorly. Personality wise, she's kinda weird.

Rukia Kuchiki, when sent from the soul society to vanquish a hollow, she runs into Ichigo who causes her to get injured by the hollow and consequently ends up giving him all of her powers rather than half. She then helps him do her job as a soul reaper until the soul reapers Renji Abarai and Byakuya Kuchiki come and take her back to the soul society for committing a capital offense (giving her power to a human) as they try to kill Ichigo.

Bleach Character - Ichigo Kurosaki

ichigoIchigo Kurosaki is a Teenager with a bit of a bad attitude and a very short temper. Regardless, he fights others to protect ghosts. (Yes, He can see them.) He keeps to himself a lot and does not like opening up to others. Deep down, he does care about the people around him, even his Dad, who likes to roughhouse with Ichigo.

He is sometimes called "Strawberry" because the kanji for his name, Ichigo, also means strawberry. However, in episode 21 when Ichigo was fighting Jindanbou, guardsman of Gate of the White Way in Soul Society, Ichigo claims that his name translates to "number one guardian" (ichi - first/best, go - "guardian angel ").

- Ichigo's zanpakuto is named Zangetsu ("Moon Cutter"), though he doesn't realize this until he begins training under Urahara. Its unawakened form is very large and bulky, yet it isn't as powerful as compared to other sealed zanpakuto due to Ichigo's inability to control his own spiritual power (this form of the sword is shown above). This doesn't become apparent, however, until his encounter with Byakuya Kuchiki, who cuts off most of the blade . Subsequently, training with Urahara allowed Ichigo to finally get in touch with the spirit of his zanpakuto and reawaken his Soul Reaper powers. Further training forces Ichigo to finally learn--and call out--its name, thus awakening it. From then on, -Zangetsu- always assumes at least a released [shikai] state because of Ichigo's overabundance of spirit energy (this is the form seen in the nearby picture). Its special attack is called getsuga tensho ("Sky-piercing Moon Fang"). Again, Ichigo does not realize its name until he talks with the spirit of -Zangetsu-, who notes that knowledge of the technique affects its power.

Thanks to help from a device of Urahara's, Ichigo is also one of the few Soul Reapers not of captain rank to have achieved his zanpakuto's final release [bankai]--Tensa Zangetsu. What's strange is that most bankai reach out and change into huge forms--his compresses all the power *inward* (the sword itself compresses down into the size of a traditional nodachi or Japanese longsword). So instead of unleashing new attacks, Tensa Zangetsu enhances what's already there, from his natural physical ability (giving him speed that can surpass the flash step) to his getsuga tensho attack (which gains both power and control) to even his garb (which changes into a black coat similar to that worn by the spirit of -Zangetsu-).

Because Urahara's training took Ichigo to the edge of becoming a Hollow, that Hollow personality remains in him and will emerge at key moments during the Soul Society arc in order to protect Ichigo's life. It also risks emerging if his spirit energy destabilizes--which tends to happen when Ichigo is utilizing the demanding final release. Knowing how dangerous this evil side of him can become, controlling it becomes a constant concern. It is only during the Arrancar arc that he gains better knowledge about his Hollow side and learns how to better control and exploit it. He also realizes then that he is not the only vizard (a Soul Reaper also able to utilize Hollow powers) around.

Bleach Review

Description

don't mess with this 15 year old
Imagine what your life would be like if your whole life, you'd been able to see spirits and ghosts. No I'm not referring to 'The Sixth Sense', I'm talking about the new action/drama/comedy anime called Bleach. The series follows 15 year old high school student Kurosaki Ichigo, and the adventures he has dealing with his rather unusual ability to see and communicate with spirits. But on one fateful night, he discovers that his until now harmless ability was about to put his own life and his families lives in great danger.

that special father and son bond

At first glance, Kurosaki Ichigo seems like your normal 15 year old high school student. But life at the Kurosaki household is anything but normal. He lives with his father and two younger sisters who all help run the clinic they own. With a father who enforces the curfue with his fists and two sisters who can see ghosts also (but not talk with them like he can), there is never a dull moment in this house. But things get even stranger when one night he meets a spirit girl named Kuchiki Rukia, a Shinigami or an angel of death. She explains to him that because of his high spiritual concentration, he will be targeted by evil spirits called Hollows who would very much like to devour his soul. The only way for Ichigo to protect himself and his family is to become a Shinigami himself.

those scary hollows
So Rukia decides she will help him out by giving him half of her own powers to him, but in the process of doing so he unwittingly steals all of her powers. Weakened, Rukia is forced into her backup body (which unlike her regular body, normal humans can see it) until she regains some of her powers. Until she does, it is up to Ichigo to take over Rukias duties sent to her from Soul Society, or heaven. As if dealing with school and family weren't enough, young Ichigo must decide whether or not he is willing to accept the harsh responsibilities he will face as a Shinigami.
