HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool 2.2.3 Free Download

HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool is a tiny freeware utility which has been designed for the HP Drive Key or DiskOnKey USB 2.0 devices. Installing it does not represent a problem whatsoever, since it is very compact and it can be run out-of-the-box, i.e. no installation is actually required.

This compact tool has an equally compact interface, an efficient little dialog with selections for Device and File system, and an entry field for Volume label, and check boxes for format options, including the ability to create a bootable DOS start-up disk using either internal system files or files at a location you can specify. Other than Start and Close buttons, that's it, not even a Help file, though this tool is easy enough to figure out without one. We moved the data off of an older 1GB flash drive and inserted the drive in an open USB port. HP USB immediately identified it and its file type, FAT. We chose to reformat it in NTFS and enable compression. We clicked Start, and a pop-up warned us all data on the drive would be lost. We allowed it to proceed, and it formatted the drive in seconds. Clicking Close called up a small dialog with detailed information about the drive. We then moved the data back to the newly reformatted drive, ejected it, reinserted it, and verified that everything was in order, including our portable apps.

HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool utility will format any USB flash drive, with your choice of FAT, FAT32, or NTFS partition types. You can also make the disk bootable by specifying a file location.
Users simply need to specify the device they wish to format, select the file system and assign the volume a label, then optionally choose quick format or enable compression. One also has the possibility of creating a DOS start-up disk, by either using the internal MS-DOS system files, or the ones located at a specific path.

Moreover, unlike this tiny utility, the Windows tool does not offer a NTFS volume label for format; the freeware in discussion also allows users to create a FAT32 volume which is larger than 32 GB. In addition, HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool enables users to rename all their USB flash drives in any way they want.

GlassCalc, Keyboard Quick Input Calculator

GlassCalc is a free, Windows calculator designed for quick input via keyboard. It forgoes the usual array of buttons for a single textbox where you can type an equation or mathematical expression, hit Enter, and get a result.

Physical calculators have buttons for a reason—you can press those buttons with your fingers. However, unless you have a touchscreen or tablet, having the same buttons on a software calculator makes little sense. You can’t press those buttons with your fingers; you have to use your mouse. Besides, computers already have physical buttons, (we call that the keyboard) so why not use them?

The name, “GlassCalc”, comes from the extra bit of Aero glass and my total inability to come up with anything else. I started making GlassCalc when I discovered that the Microsoft PowerToy Calculator didn’t work properly in Windows Vista/7 without administrative privileges. I wanted a calculator that I could quickly type equations into without getting a UAC prompt every time I started it.

It is capable of (but not limited to) the following:

  • Evaluating all kinds of simple and complex mathematical expressions.
  • Evaluating multiple expressions at once.
  • Handling user-defined functions and variables.
  • Keeping a full history of expressions and results. (calculator tape)
  • Remembering all your variables and functions (and if you choose, the history as well) when the program is closed and restarted.
  • Converting to and from any base between 2 to 36. There are shortcuts for entering binary, octal, and hexadecimal numbers as well.
  • Solving single variable equations. (except in the cases where Newton’s Method fails or limited precision causes problems)
  • Evaluating trigonometric functions with either radian or degree angles.

Click Quick Reference under the Help menu for a concise listing of the functions available in GlassCalc, or look at the readme for more in-depth descriptions.

GlassCalc also features a number of shortcuts designed to make it quick and easy to make calculations. For instance, simply start typing and the input textbox will automatically receive focus—no need to click it first. GlassCalc also recognizes coefficients (so 3x and 3*x both mean “3 times x”), and exponential notation (so 1.2e4 means “12 times 10^4″).

System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, or 7 (untested on older versions)
  • .NET Framework 4.0 (automatically installed during setup if needed)

If a previous version of GlassCalc worked on your computer, click the upgrade button below for a much smaller download.

Calk'n'Roll is a simple calculator. In general function calculator is limited to calculators. The difference is, this calculator is equipped with a roll of paper in a digital mode. So we can see the history of calculations that we do. Use this free tool also does not require complicated learning. This free tool is really easy to use.

On Internet you can find a lot of sites offering calculators, even very sophisticated. But this software has the following features:

  • it is free,
  • it can be used on line or downloaded to your PC to work unconnected,
  • it joins its keyboard with a “virtual paper roll” to record all data and operations you make (an important feature to work surely and avoid mistakes).

SOME DETAILS:

1 - current operation
2 - current result
3 - next operation
4 - sign change
5 - decimal point
6 - cancel last digit
7 - clear current calculus
8 - clear calculus and paper roll
9 - clear memory
10- add or subtract to memory
11- memory recall
12- current memory value
13- rolling tape showing operations and results
14- decimal digit number (with rounding)
